Generation Riesling Wine Xperience

International Internship Program of Germany’s „Generation Riesling“

No book, no tasting, no seminar can replace first-hand experience in a wine-growing region.

This is why the German Wine Institute is launching its “Wine Xperience” programme, destined to give young foreign professionals in the wine trade or in the gastronomy a chance to gain first-hand experience for a few weeks or more in a German wine-estate.

The German Wine Institute has asked members of Germany’s Generation Riesling if they were able and willing to host interns from foreign countries and so far more than 25 estates have signalled that they are happy to receive young foreign professionals.

“Generation Riesling” (www.generation-riesling.de) is the commen name for the young and upcoming generation of well-trained, internationally minded and ambitious young wine-makers in Germany.

What are the rules?

• You have to be working in the wine trade or in the gastronomy.

• You will have to send us your application and your CV as well as the time-frame for your stay in Germany (minimum 2 weeks) to michael.schemmel@deutscheweine.de or to your Wines of Germany office. 

• You should be willing to share your experience on the internet in Twitter, Facebook, etc. 

• We will pass this information on to the Generation Riesling producers participating in Wine Xperience. 

• The producers will lodge and feed you in their estate, but you will not get any remuneration for your stay, your travel expenses or your work.

The task of the German Wine Institute is to get interns and wine-estates in contact. Everything else has to be discussed and decided between the estate and the foreign visitor.

We think that this can be a great opportunity in getting first-hand experience in wine-making, wine-selling and certainly also in wine-tasting.
